Colorful Belize - Sunday

Lots of colors, delicious food, great people... that's Belize. Next visit will hopefully be for fun rather than work, but either way, it's a good place to spend a week.

Unexpected Joy

200 dancers surprised commuters in Belgium last month with this "life as a musical" performance. How can one not smile and sing along?

All shopped out

Carlos rightly pointed out to me that I had never posted any photo or anything about him on my blog. What was I thinking? I ran across this photo a bit ago; I think Mom snapped it when they were visiting about 4 years ago. Carlos would simply fall asleep anywhere when he felt the need, in fact he still does even now from time to time.

Fuzz

Time to share Fuzz, one of the puppets Noah has made. No eyes by design; "he looks cool that way." Fuzz can often be found hanging with the rest of his gang here

Easter fun (or anytime, really)

photo from http://www.purlbee.com/

Now honestly, how cool are these? I don't even like real jelly beans, but these are pretty awesome. And a cute bag full of them is even better. Years ago Karyn gave Noah a great gift; 3 or 4 homemade beanbags and a cassette tape filled with lots of "pass the beanbag" songs and games. We loved it all - those little beanbags were cherished toys. From time to time one or two of them will resurface in the kids' room, well loved but still holding strong.

Discovery

Ina loves to explore and find things to check out (and show mom); the pond frog at Ashley Hill,
sand crabs at Assateague,
or a great skipping rock at Morgan Park. All hold magic and delight.

Thanks

For my brother, who gave me this thoughtful Snoopy gift and whom I always think of when I use this stamp.

Winter wonderland

A bit of winter wonderland earlier this morning.

Snow

One more snowy picture from Germany in celebration of the snow that fell late last night and into the morning right here at home. Six inches. Enough for Carlos to declare that it's a "Winter Wonderland!" upon waking up. Ina and Carlos got busy sledding at 7:30 this morning, so as not to waste any of that six inch goodness.

30 hours in a weekend

Yay to the 250 kids and many adult organizers and volunteers who made this a reality. Amazing perfomances by The Mustard Seeds, too. You guys are all awesome.

Noah's mix

Not many new cards have been made around here lately - life's crazy pace has interfered. Noah and I made these CD's to give away at his birthday party nearly 3 years ago. He picked the tunes, we burned a bunch of copies and packaged them up. There was sort of a Harry Potter theme going on, so the castle stamp stood in for Hogwarts. Much has changed since then, but around these parts there is still a strong love for good music, all things artistic, and getting friends together for birthday celebrations. And Harry Potter too, of course.

Felting for February

Little gaps of time during December and January were filled in with small knitting projects. These felted bowls have been very satisfying to knit and felt. Although the felting is done by the washing machine, not me. Some have turned out a little funky, but all are fun.

Nighttime snow

One of the lovely buildings in Garmisch and the snow that caught the camera flash in a rather magical way.

Coats in Garmisch

At the dining hall, where I ate breakfast every morning. One of my favorite photos from Germany.

San Jose Cathedral at dusk

A quick taxi tour through Casco Viejo (Old Panama City) and a short stop at the square in front of the San Jose cathedral for a few photos. The sun was setting fast, making it almost silly to be taking pictures, but we did anyway.

Nearly 490 years old with an altar of pure gold and a fantastic history involving pirates and a move from the original settlement to its present location, this church holds many stories, for certain.
