For The Tomten and Santa

Santa and the Tomten made it to our house again this Christmas; perhaps they remembered last year's spread that was lovingly prepared for them by Ina. This year, they again received Ina's notes and treats; I'm sure they offered a much enjoyed break during their long night.

Small gifts

Homemade biscotti with chocolate squares to munch and hot cocoa to drink. Given with love, Christmas 2007.

Cheery cotton dish cloths

Many of these dish cloths became gifts last year - part of a simple "kitchen kit" type gift. They are quick little things to knit up; rather mindless knitting which is perfect for me.

Alaska Jam

These jars of blueberry and raspberry jam are long gone, but thanks to GOM, I enjoyed raspberry jam (2008 harvest) on toast this morning. Mmmm....

Fun flowers

The colors in this photograph are a bit off, but this is another card (like most in the set previously posted) using a emboss/resist technique. The stamped flowers were clear embossed, then different colors were swiped over the cardstock. The embossed flowers do not pick up the color, hence the "resist" part of the name.

Hogwarts

Well, maybe not too much like Hogwarts, but this stamp did remind us of Harry Potter's world. This is the last design from the set of cards.

From the set

Here's another card from the set. Coincidentally it happens to be a rather autumnal card, which works out nice for posting this week.

Musically minded rooster

What the background sheet music and rooster have in common I may never know, but there you have it. This was one design from a collection of cards that I made for a friend.

Wishing you a wishing ewe

A wishing ewe could be a very good thing to have. This one even has a magic wand; most excellent. For fun, I've been revisiting cards that I made several years ago. This is one of them.

More coolness from that cool place

I love this simple yet mesmerizing (for me anyway) design. This is part of the outside area around the American Indian Museum (photo below). You don't even have to go into the building to enjoy it. Although, I highly recommend a visit. Both inside and out.

A cool place

Thanksgiving is next week, which makes me think of this building. A good place to explore, enjoy and imagine in.

November trees

The leaves are gone and thoughts are turning to snow...

Benjamin Bunny

This card was made and mailed out quite some time ago. Early last year, perhaps. The Benjamin Bunny stamp has been around in my stash for well over 20 years now. It came from a stamp shop in downtown Anchorage, which I remember thinking was one of the most amazing places I'd ever seen. A whole shop just for stamps! Who knew?

Warm wishes

Warm birthday wishes - stay cozy! A similar card design might pop up this year for Christmas; we'll have to see...

More crazy socks

Crazy, cheery socks to keep warm in on windy November days. Hmm, a cup of tea sounds nice, too...

Simple cherries

Remembering the beautiful cherries we picked this spring at the farm. Good times.

In the Night Kitchen

A fun image from one of my favorite Maurice Sendak books. Mickey (in bread dough above) saves breakfast for all of us with his adventures in the Night Kitchen. A must read for kids and adults alike.

Another turtle card

The copper cording lays inbetween an embossed channel of sorts. It's a soft, subtle effect that didn't show up well in this picture.

Peaceful turtle

This turtle was embossed with copper embossing powder for lots of nice texture.

Something incredible

The square images come from a recycled calendar page. The Carl Sagan quote reads: "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." Indeed.

Happy Holidays, again

Slowly easing into January, apparently. A couple of Christmas cards from this year that I did manage to snap a picture of. New cards are in the works!

Proud as a peacock

Peacock image was stamped on glossy cardsock that was first swiped with two different colors - re-inkers on a cotton ball. Just playing around seeing what kind of background paper it would make. Fun!

12th Day of Christmas

The Kings have almost made it to the manger, so today is the last day of Christmas. Somehow, I managed to forget to take pictures of nearly all the Christmas cards I did this year before they were given out, so here's one of the other designs from last year. Can't tell in this picture, but the star and the word "noel" sparkle nicely in real life.

´tis the season... still

Happy New Year! As it is still the Christmas season until the 3 Kings arrival on Jan 6, here is a bit of seasonal cheer. The colors are a bit off in the photo, but I was quite pleased with how it all came together. This card is actually from last Christmas, 2006.
